Give me a label, dammit!

Depending upon which purveyor of MBTI you choose, you’ll be led to believe it’s either:

  1. a preference inventory (i.e. you can be all of the types, yet prefer one predominantly)
  2. a psychological measure (i.e. you are one of the types)

Further, you’ll either be told:

  1. MBTI should never be used for selection, as it is not predictive of performance
  2. MBTI provides insight into performance potential

And if you’re really paying attention, you’ll decide that 1 is closer to reality, 2 is categorically wrong.
